Creating autonomy requires spatial understanding. A machine can act only on what it knows, where things are, what happened, and what has changed. We capture and store that knowledge in a live map of the site, one that remembers, updates and shares the status of everything on it, accurately localized. Mobile automation cannot be efficient without it.
Mobile robot vendors carry their own map and keep it to themselves. Fleets from different vendors therefore lack a shared spatial context, can’t share a floor, and leave physical AI models without ground truth to plan against. Staer solves this by creating a continuously live map that is continuously updated and shared, so any robot can navigate it and any model can read from it. Autonomy becomes seamless and continuous, not a static element each machine has to bring.
Warehousing has an urgent need for automation. Margins are thin, labour accounts for half to two thirds of operating costs, and recruiting is difficult while turnover is high. As a result, automation often stalls at the same point.
